Pathology, toxicology, and psychiatry specialists of The Forensic Panel examined the death of a man that occurred while he was serving only a weekend stint in jail. The Forensic Panel’s investigative tenacity drew out a definitive cause of death overlooked by the local forensic pathologist, other outside consultants and by the jail’s review process and brought medical answers to grieving loved ones.
The Forensic Panel’s findings inspired resolve to change Idaho laws to allow for more responsible care of anxiety and drug detox for prisoners. Our efforts in McClure, as in other cases, inspired the opposing attorneys to retain the practice in a later corrections health matter.
