William
Foote, Ph.D. has a nationally distinguished career
in clinical and forensic psychology that has spanned nearly
three decades. In recent years, he has maintained a private
practice in forensic psychology and clinical psychology
in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area.
Dr.
Foote has served as professor at the University of New
Mexico's School of Medicine, the School of Law and the
Department of Psychology. He has lectured around the country
before a variety of professional psychology and law organizations
on topics ranging from employment discrimination, violent
crime, stalking, dangerousness, malingering, psychological
testing, ethics and disciplinary hearings, domestic violence,
disability and the ADA, and psychological evaluations
to the criminal and civil courts.
A
Fellow of the American Psychological Association, he has
been President of the APA's State Association Division,
and served on the APA's Task Force on Test User Qualification.
A member of the APA's liaison committee with the American
Bar Association, Dr. Foote formerly chaired the APA's
Committee on Legal Issues. He is also on the Editorial
Board of The Forensic Echo, on the Editorial Board for
Professional Psychology Research and Practice, and is
a board member of the New Mexico Council on Crime and
Delinquency.
Dr.
Foote has written important recently published articles
on sex harassment and forensic psychology ethics. Respected
by colleagues around the country for his various contributions
to the field, Dr. Foote was honored by the Sacramento
(CA) Forensic Psychological Association. In August of
2000, Dr. Foote received a Presidential Citation from
the President of the American Psychological Association
for "distinguished contributions to psychology and
the law". He is the recording secretary for the Board
of Directors of the American Board of Forensic Psychology,
the certifying body of forensic psychology in the United
States.
His
clinical experience includes corrections, Indian Health
Services, military, state hospital, substance dependence,
vocational and state hospital settings. He is currently
a clinical consultant for the Northern Renewal Society,
a not for profit Canadian corporation dedicated to providing
treatment for Inuit men who were sexually abused by a
school teacher.
