student will learn and practice research and investigation,
working sources, writing and story development in the area of
criminal law with a focus on areas related to depraved crimes.

Responsibilities
will include:
Assist
with ongoing research toward the standardization of "depraved"
crimes. The primary objective of this position is to increase
participation in the Depravity
Scale research effort, through the following means:
- Story research
- Writing feature
articles and press releases
- Developing newspaper
and other media & editorial contacts
- Article placement
and publication
Behavioral science,
medical, and legal research
- Literature search
utilizing various databases, including PsychLit, PsycInfo,
Medline, and Lexis-Nexus
- Participate in
ongoing research projects on various topics in the behavioral
sciences
- Opportunities
for future publication
The ideal candidate:
is an undergraduate or graduate student studying journalism
or a related field; an interest in criminal law and sentencing
is helpful. Must be self-motivated and team-oriented, with superior
writing and communications skills. Preference will be granted
to applicants who can commit to six months.
