Fred Fochtman, Ph.D.
Forensic toxicologist Frederick Fochtman, Ph.D. is the Director of the Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law at Duquesne University School of Law and Director of the Forensic Science and Law Masters Program at Duquesne University.
Prior to becoming director of the Forensic Institute, Dr. Fochtman served for ten years as the Director and Chief Toxicologist of the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office, Forensic Laboratory Division in Pittsburgh. Dr. Fochtman, a long-time faculty member at Duquesne, has had great success in building the academic program in the institute. He is the author of a number of scientific presentations and journal articles in the area of forensic sciences. He is recognized as a Fellowof the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.
Dr. Fochtman has contributed important understanding to numerous highly sensitive cases and has been widely appreciated by colleagues for his integrity and appreciation for the evolving science of pharmacology and toxicology.
