David R. Fowler, M.D., one of the most respected forensic pathologists in the United States, is Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland. A medical consultant to the U.S. Department of the Navy, Dr. Fowler is Board Certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Forensic Pathology.

Dr. Fowler’s publications involve death, bereavement, and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and he has made presentations across the country on death investigation, forensic science, injuries and death. Dr. Fowler’s service an experience includes the Maryland Governor’s Task Force on Missing and Vulnerable Adults, Child Fatality Review Team, and Mass Fatality Working Group. 

Attesting to his comfort level in engaging the interface of forensic pathology and other disciplines, Dr. Fowler is the current course director for the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts in areas topics of criminal justice and social policy. An Assistant Professor of Pathology and of Pediatrics at the University of Maryland at Baltimore, he is on the faculty of the National Study Center for Trauma and Emergency in Baltimore.

Dr. Fowler’s experience, integrity, and experience with peer review examination lend particular value to death investigations and other pathology analyses in both criminal and civil cases, involving both adults and children.
