David M. Walker, M.D.
David M. Walker, M.D., a forensic psychiatrist, has extensive experience in correctional psychiatry and high level consultation in both civilian and military sectors. He is the Medical Director of Mental Health & Behavioral Science Services at the Louisville VA Medical Center. Dr. Walker holds a senior academic position as the Associate Chair of Veteran's Programs and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Louisville’s Department of Psychiatry, and he is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
As a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Walker was Chief of Hospital Psychiatric Services at the Wilford Hall Medical Center in Texas. Dr. Walker led the rebuilding of the forensic psychiatry department at the Air Force’s largest medical center, in collaboration with the University of Texas Health Science Center. He directed the Air Force’s largest inpatient facility and developed US Air Force’s forensic assessment program for sexual offenders.
Dr. Walker’s broad experience includes consultations in capital cases, competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, fitness for duty, malingering, sex offender assessment and alcohol and drug-related evaluations. Board Certified in Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry, Dr. Walker has consulted in many of the most sensitive military cases worldwide in both national and international jurisdictions.
