Kai Sturmann, M.D.
Kai Sturmann, M.D., a specialist in Emergency Medicine, is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center. As Program Director for the Residency Program in Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center, he is highly regarded for his exceptional clinical and teaching skills.
As Director of Medical Education at Beth Israel Medical Center he developed a new residency training program that was adopted by Mount Sinai School of Medicine’s Integrated Residency Program in Emergency Medicine and has become one of the top Emergency Medicine training programs in the country. Dr. Sturmann has developed two other programs - the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Program (AECOM) at Beth Israel for which he currently serves as Program Director, as well as a combined training program in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine.
Dr. Sturmann is a certified Sex Assault Forensic Examiner and takes an active part in the Beth Israel’s Sexual Assault Survivor Examiner/Advocate Program. Before it was disbanded, he was a physician member of the New York State Supreme Court Malpractice Review Panel, where he examined cases for standards of treatment and physician actions and ethics. His aptitude for explaining complex medical situations to both professionals and non-professionals has been key to his contribution on a variety of emergency and internal medicine issues presenting to The Forensic Panel.
