Richard Cohen, Ph.D. is Chief of Mental Health Services for YAI – Young Adult Institute: National Institute for People with Disabilities in New York City, one of the most respected centers for case of the disabled in America. At YAI, Dr. Cohen oversees the clinical services of 104 psychologists and social workers and combines clinical activities with extensive training experience. Dr. Cohen has been responsible for developing YAI’s clinical services for the developmentally disabled and for their families. He has extensive clinical experience with developmental disabilities in children, adolescents and adult patients.

Prior to leading YAI, Dr. Cohen was on the staff of United Cerebral Palsy of New York, providing crisis intervention, parent training, and counseling services and achieving the rank of Director of the Office of Consumer and Family Advocacy for UCP. Dr. Cohen maintains a private practice of issue-oriented psychotherapy in New York City.
